IDENTITY DESIGN

Tropics is a commumity inititive spearheaded by Commonwealth Projects, a platform for young adults to learn lifelong skills that nourish self-esteem and independence. The team of close-knit, committed and ambitious young adults from the Baldwin Village neighborhood care deeply about the health of the neighborhood. Equally important, Tropics’ patrons want a meaningful experience where they can participate in conversations about art, culture, community, health and other relevant ideas. The synergy of Tropics is tangible.

The team’s initial installation at the Underground Museum is thoughtfully conceived and designed. Its a space that is inviting, flexible, and unfussy. Composed of custom-built shelters and seating, Tropics created a unique environment for conversation and contemplation, doubling as a juice/health bar.

Through the experience at the Underground Museum location, the team acquired skills and knowledge to open a mobile workshop space within the established community of Baldwin Village, as well as initiated an ongoing mediation program entitled Mindfulness Mondays, and a separate visiting meditation program with the local Hillcrest Elementary School.
