Nathaniel Mellors Lecture at the Hammer

Having worked with Nathaniel Mellors on the film The Sophisticated Neanderthal Interview, we can’t wait to hear the artist share his thoughts about the project at the Hammer Museum for a lecture on May 20, 2014. Mellors is a British born artist on residency at the Hammer. Part of the pleasure of working with the artist was seeing an outsider explore Los Angeles and its film industry. Mellor’s process adapted to the Los Angeles environment in a natural, unique way and his perspective cultivated during his time at the Hammer is one worth looking forward to.

Nathaniel Mellors — The Saprophage

The Saprophage was shot on an iPhone (in L.A., London and Greece) and, in places, the footage was purposely distorted and damaged. Time, place and action are examined in a maelstrom of words and images. Every now and then, Mellors is also part of this fabulous, absurd saga.

As fans of Nathaniel’s work, Commonwealth Projects is excited to be working on his forthcoming film in Los Angeles.
