LAND is a nonprofit arts organization committed to presenting site-responsive projects in the public sphere throughout Los Angeles and beyond. Commonwealth prides itself on collaborating with our local industry and initiatives, therefore working with LAND was a natural eventuality. Upon acquainting ourselves with the history, identity, and language of the Los Angeles Nomadic Division, we began to clearly see the values and attributes that LAND has embodied over the years and where it’s heading. LAND has not only created new pathways for artists and communities, but has acted as a tether on those pathways; assisting and supporting artists’ safety, stability, and, connection. Furthermore, in a true nomadic style, LAND understands the importance of building new networks and maintaining those that already exist. A true shepherd and intermediary that inspires collaboration, discovery, opportunity, and expansion via exposure.
The need for scalability and modularity informed the functionality of the branding system due to the probability of future divisions outside of Los Angeles, while the broader concept of nomadism and discovery informed the aesthetic approach.
